Howdy friends! So much has happened since our last update. With all that’s been going on, this update should have come to you in about three separate posts. I’ve been bad about keeping up with this blog so you’re going to get the latest news all in one!

After 2 1/2 years of searching for land, we closed on our property May 1st. We’re proud to say that Sycamore Creek Family Ranch now has an official home at 2657 Sunset Inn Road in Branson, Missouri.

The night of our closing, we celebrated with family and friends who have been (or will be) helping us make this dream a reality. It was a perfect evening for an impromptu party! (Sorry. My photos are a little blurry.)

We purchased a tractor, a vintage farm truck, and hired a crew of incredible young men to help clean up the property.

Last week we put in a gravel road. We love the way the grass looks growing in the middle. It gives it a real “country road” look. Who knew putting a block in the back of a dump would allow you to lay the gravel perfectly in the lanes! We’re learning fun things here at the ranch! Oh the simple pleasures of country life!

Gravel means less mud!

We’ve been meeting with an architect and are inching closer to barn construction. I’d guess we’re about a month away from breaking ground. Here’s one version of the preliminary drafts. The stain on the barn wood will actually be lighter than this. We have another version that includes dormers and mixed roofing (shingles up high, corrugated tin on lower roofing) but I couldn’t get that one to download.

During this time, we’ve received two inquiries about weddings at our property – and we haven’t even advertised! If you’re planning a wedding, we anticipate being ready for event rental anywhere between December 2015 and March 2016. Visit our wedding page on this site and contact us for more info!

Thanks for following along with us! We love your company. Can’t wait until we see you face-to-face at our property one day!!

Until then, may the wind always be at your back and the sun shining on your face. Love your families well.

Mike and Lisa
