Howdy friends! August is here. School is about to start. All we can say is, “Where did the summer go?” We don’t know about you, but our summer flew by. Ranch cleanup and preparation for wedding rentals have been our priorities at the ranch this summer; however, we squeezed in time for fun too. Camp, numerous visits from friends, and some long days on the lake were heavenly; but the best part of summer for us was having our adult kids home for an extended visit. One last time. Our son graduated from college in May and started his new job with a management consulting firm in July. We’re excited for this new adventure in his life.
During a season of prayer regarding her future, our daughter literally had her dream job dropped in her lap. She will no longer be teaching special needs children in the public schools. She will now be loving and encouraging families through her new position as the Director of Special Needs Ministry at a church. The unique needs of these families have been close to her heart since her early college days. We’re so grateful for this amazing opportunity for her!
Wedding Photo Shoot
Just before our kids came to visit, we staged a wedding for a photo shoot. Jeannie Huff at PhotoGenie Photography generously donated her talents to captures these pictures for our social media, website, and marketing materials. We also appreciate the efforts of our wedding couple, Duncan and Alex. Despite the suffocating humidity and oppressive heat, our team still had a great time.

As the sun set on the horizon, God set the stage with an exquisite backdrop.
Setbacks and Detours
During the summer, we’ve met with a lot of growing experts, hayed our fields, started some fire pits, and hit some bumps in the road with barn construction. Our timber frame company is backlogged with projects. There’s a possibility construction may be delayed until next February. We’re working diligently to remedy this.
In the meantime, we’re renovating the lower part of the ranch house as a wedding venue. This will be an extraordinary spot for wedding couples and their guests as the views from the backyard are stunning.
Demo day! We wish Chip and Joanna Gaines were here!
Use those muscles!
We’re also seriously considering constructing an outdoor chapel next to the ranch house as well as a pavilion at the back of the property.
